Inquiring minds want to know

  • Slow & Wild Studios is where the art of sensual movement meets the wisdom and transformation of Self-Reclamation work. We work with soulful, big-hearted, body-positive women like you to help you cultivate a Self-Reclamation Practice centered on sensual movement and self-care that gives you back your full power, agency, and aliveness.

    You can think of our classes like a pleasure-seeking, freedom-creating, power-restoring mash-up of yoga, primal, somatic movement, and sensual dance. We dance, breathe, stretch, attune, emote, connect to our deepest core and truth, stoke our desires and creative fires, and love on every inch of our feminine bodies.

    We offer In-Studio Classes and will soon launch Slow & Wild Virtual, a monthly subscription that unlocks an all-access pass to attend our classes virtually (via Zoom) and utilize our ever-growing Video On Demand content library. This archive includes audio, video, and written content that deepens the work we do in class.

  • Our address is 1903 Hwy 41 Suite 204, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466. We share our lobby and restrooms with Creative Minds Preschool, so they conveniently offer childcare (through their business, not ours) during all of our morning yoga classes. Score for the mamas out there!

  • Visit our Intro Offer page to get 3 classes for $50 (that’s nearly half off!) so you can try all the classes and pick your faves. When you go to book a class, you’ll be guided through all the step by step registration and enrollment options.

  • Great question. The short answer is, wear whatever you want. As always, you do you.

    The long answer? Wear something stretchy and breathable that feels good on your skin, helps you feel your best while practicing, and makes you feel beautiful, confident, and like you’re meeting your own needs for comfort.

    Some days I wear baggy ass sweatpants over a leotard, cropped tees and yoga pants I’ve had for eons, or granny-panty style briefs (because I’m not in the mood for wedgies).

    Other days, I say BRING THE WEDGIE! (Shout out to the pole and burlesque communities for teaching me how to feel incredible about freeing the ass cheeks!)

    Most days, it’s just so damn good to feel the silky slide of the Sensory Mat’s faux rabbit fur all over me. It’s like I’m being pet and held by the softest, most calming fur-creature who lives to watch me move, explore my curves, caress my skin, hold space for me, adore, comfort and support me. That sounds weird, I know, but it’s true. You’ll see.

    Also, showing a lot of skin and looking at yourself lovingly, deliberately, and acceptingly in the mirror is a powerful self-care practice. P.O.W.E.R.F.U.L. We multiply the power of it exponentially when we do it together – celebrating, admiring, and approving of each other’s unique beauty, movements, impulses, style, shape, size, and perfect imperfections.

    Then the REAL magic happens as each woman gets more in tune with her own power, worth, and turn-on… reconnecting to primal longings and re-integrating long-ago-abandoned parts of herself. This unfolds naturally as she begins to release issues from her tissues, eradicate shame patterns, and become more aware of her own needs and how to meet them.

    She’ll get more comfortable expressing herself through sensual, somatic, and primal movement and sound (and possibly more comfortable showlng more skin). Showing skin is optional, of course, but there are so many benefits to practicing with skin out in a safe space like this with other women.

  • Attire and Gear for In-Studio Classes:

    SIGNATURE CLASSES –

    Wear clothes that feel good and feel free to bare as much skin as possible to both enhance your sensory experience and provide an opportunity to adore every inch of your gorgeous reflection in the mirror. Grippy socks required (available for purchase in studio). Sensory and Foundation Mats provided. Bring your journal and a pen. Knee pads may be helpful for those with very sensitive knees.

    SLOW & WILD YOGA FLOW CLASSES –

    Wear stretchy, breathable yoga attire that feels good on your skin. Grippy socks required (available for purchase in studio). Sensory and Foundation Mats provided. Bring a journal and pen.

    CHOREO CLASSES – Floor, Heels, or Chair Routines Offered (we alternate week to week)

    Wear clothes that feel good and feel free to bare as much skin as possible to both enhance your sensory experience and provide an opportunity to adore every inch of your gorgeous reflection in the mirror. Grippy socks required (available for purchase in studio). Sensory and Foundation Mats provided. Knee pads may be helpful for those with very sensitive knees.

    For Heels and Chair classes, consider bringing dancing heels (think Latin dance shoes or boots, not stilettos, pole shoes, or high platforms). They’re completely optional.

    Attire and Gear for Slow & Wild Virtual:

    Wear what you feel sexy and comfortable in that will breathe and allow you to move with ease. This could be sweatpants or hot shorts and a crop top one day… your favorite yoga outfit the next. Dance naked if you want! You’re at home, so you call the shots. Just reference the class descriptions that alert you if you need a certain prop or piece of gear like a folding chair, dance heels, or knee pads, for instance.

    Personally, we like to wear very little clothing so we can feel the softness of the Sensory Mat on our skin and see our movements in the mirror. Leotards work great. Also consider wearing pole fitness wear since it’s designed for flexibility, comfort, and bringing your sexy and playful goddess out to play!

    Mandatory Gear:

    - grippy socks

    - 6-foot round Foundation (yoga) & Sensory Mat Set available for purchase on our Shop page

    - Metal folding chair with rubber feet for the chair dance portion of class

    - full-body mirror for watching yourself move (it’s a big part of the experience)

    - journal and pen

    Optional Gear:

    - wrap-around-style earbuds

    - water bottle

    - massage balls

    - sweat towel

    - essential oil mister for your face

    - candle

  • As a ritual, we move our bodies on what we call a Sensory Mat – a luxurious 6-foot round practice mat that defines your practice space. These mats were designed and manufactured by us personally. They’re made of faux rabbit fur so they invite you to stretch, slink, and slide that gorgeous body around in the sexiest of ways with playful and exploratory ease. Knees and bony parts are extra protected as there are not one but TWO layers on which we practice. Beneath the Sensory Mat lies another 6-foot round Foundation Mat – a thick, high-density yoga mat that is durable, spacious, and grippy.

    The Sensory Mat on top feels delicious against the skin (which is one reason why we love to bare a lot of it; that, and of course, it’s a beautiful thing to get comfortable seeing and celebrating ourselves in the mirror dancing with very little clothing on).

    There’s a gradual movement and music progression that starts super slow and low to the ground then builds in pace and intensity. The eventual crescendo culminates in a delicious and dynamic yoga flow or a fun and sexy dance routine (either floor, chair, or heels, depending on the class). Lastly, we wrap up with a journaling session and Integration (think: Savasana, the final resting pose in yoga) to further integrate the most pleasurable or significant learning moments and self-discoveries.

  • In the studio and in Slow & Wild Virtual you’ll find our Signature class (mostly dance – some yoga), Slow & Wild Yoga Flow (mostly yoga – some dance), and “Choreo” (Choreography) class in which we teach fun, simple and sexy floor and chair dance routines (and occasionally dance in heels –– we’ll give you plenty of notice when the latter happens).

    In studio, classes are 75 minutes (full-length). Inside the Virtual members portal, we will offer both full-length and “Quickies”.

    All classes start off with a slow and grounding warm-up on the Sensory Mat, and both the Yoga and the Signature Classes include both dance and yoga. There’s just more sensual dance in our Signature Classes and (you guessed it) more Yoga in Yoga.

    For a detailed breakdown of each class flow, go HERE.

    In Slow & Wild Virtual, you’ll also (eventually) find bonus content (we’re still producing it all now) such as:

    - the further breakdown and refinement of common moves we do in this practice so you can better understand the proper alignment, safety mechanics, energetics and benefits of them;

    - additional teachings from our Slow & Wild philosophy and the step-by-step method for reclaiming yourself through cultivating a sensual dance practice;

    - journal prompts and other “Quickie” self-care practices (like Deep Stretch, Release (which uses massage balls), Burn (to light your bootie on fire and move big energy out), and Emote (which is exactly what it sounds like);

    - guided meditations;

    - archives from live content calls where the entire Sisterhood joins in to learn and grow together;

    - book club discussions; and lastly,

    - Kris’s “I want you to know that…” statements where she shares her tender heart, curiosities, challenges, desires, and inspiration with the community through vulnerable posts.

  • Our intention is to bring you back home to yourself and help you feel COMPLETELY yourself: whole, grounded, empowered, free, and fully alive; to close the gap between who you think you’re supposed to be and who you really are at your core. We call this Self-Reclamation. You’re reclaiming all parts of yourself.

    You can focus specifically on an area or aspect of yourself that you most long to reclaim – or work with one of the 10 areas we hone and provide prompts for: your BODY, VOICE, TIME, SPACE, INTUITION, SENSUALITY, SEXUALITY, SPIRITUALITY, DESIRES, and PASSIONS.

    Our classes facilitate a mind-body movement practice to a carefully curated playlist. We offer 3 types of classes: Our Signature class (more dance than yoga), our Slow & Wild Yoga Flow (more yoga than dance), and Choreo (short for Choreography) Classes that rotate week to week between learning chair, heels, and floor dance routines.

    The overall goal is to provide such an ongoing variety that you’re able to get this practice IN YOUR BODY. We hope you’ll cultivate a somatic and sensual movement practice of your own – that will both restore you and enable you to maintain optimal wellness. We invite you to not only join us In-Studio, but also subscribe to Slow & Wild Virtual come this Summer so you can practice from home with your very own Sensory and Foundation Mats.

    Each day, you’ll release the “issues in your tissues” – the tension that would otherwise weigh on your emotional and physical well-being. Hence the tagline, open up, empty out.

    You can think of our classes like a pleasure-seeking, freedom-creating, power-restoring mash-up of yoga, primal, somatic movement, and sensual dance – only in a matter of 75 minutes, you’re getting the kind of whole-self reset you’d usually only get from a full yoga retreat – or multiple sessions with a gifted coach or therapist who really sees you followed by an entire weekend of belly laughs with your girlfriends.

  • We're a Sisterhood of soulful, body-positive women healing and liberating ourselves and each other by stripping away shame and unbinding our hearts, minds, and bodies. Creating a safe, judgment- and competition-free zone is our highest priority.

    The women who gravitate here may or may not be dancers or yogis in the traditional sense, but they love to move, fully inhabit their bodies, and embrace their humanity and desire.

    Big-hearted and brave AF, they choose personal freedom, self-honoring, and being REAL over the relentless expectations of our noisy, hustle-driven society. What’s not to love?

  • You do you. There’s no wrong way to do this practice as long as you’re being kind and true to yourself. You’ll be guided to attune to yourself right from the start so that part should happen by default. Trust what feels right to you.

    We don’t necessarily share our thoughts and emotions. The vulnerability is just a quiet, shared agreement. We let ourselves be seen, and see others. We’re just in the studio together, moving, feeling, and flowing.

    We don’t coach anyone individually or try to fix anyone if they’re experiencing big emotion. The whole point is to feel and not resist – not poke or prod or judge or make meaning about what we feel. We simply open to whatever we feel and let the movement do its work. We welcome and celebrate whatever is alive in us on any given day.

    There’s no shame or blame, just sensation and noticing. It’s all just energy in motion – phenomenon passing through – emotions, sensations, impulses, and thoughts having their short-lived life in us. You’ll move your body, let your energy that needs to move become your dance, and enjoy the ride!

  • Go here to learn about our philosophy and the benefits and basis of the Slow & Wild practice.

  • Somatic just means of the body, and like any solid yoga, dance, or exercise practice that involves good body mechanics and at least some elements of mindfulness/self-awareness, this practice can feel deeply supportive, enlivening, and therapeutic.

    We release pent up energy, get endorphins flowing, and treat ourselves the way we’ve always hoped others would. Those things, in and of themselves, can be deeply healing.

    But this is not therapy or a substitute for therapy, nor is it intended to “cure” anything. We just give you the space and the cues to take really incredible care of yourself and the other women in the room for the 75 minutes that we have you. And we reckon if you’re consistent in your involvement in this growing sisterhood, you will change for the better.

  • Our business neighbor, Creative Minds Preschool, with whom we share the same building (lobby and bathrooms) conveniently provides childcare during our morning yoga classes only.

  • Yes! (Or we will soon, anyway.) Shortly after our studio’s official open date, we’ll launch Slow & Wild Virtual. It’ll provide access to all of our In-Studio Classes virtually, via Zoom, plus a whole video library of On-Demand Content. Learn more about that here.

  • Stay tuned, because soon after we launch, we will add additional lines of support for the women in this sisterhood with online and in-person events, retreats, group and 1-1 coaching, and private forums for deepening the community bond and integrating the growth, self-discoveries, and changes catalyzed by their Slow & Wild practice. Join our mailing list to ensure you’re kept in the (pleasure) loop.

  • You might say that. Not in an obnoxious or off-putting way. But we’re openly pro-pleasure, body-positive, and wholeheartedly dedicated to liberating (i.e. UNrepressing) women; helping them own their desires and accept, integrate, and express all parts of themselves healthfully –– so they can feel more alive, free, and in tune with their own power and life force.

    We believe that women are the most important changemakers on the planet, so we’re empowering them every which way we can.

  • Our Signature Classes unfold like this:

    1) Invocation - our opening declaration of intent and gratitude. After some brief somatic movements for grounding, we sit or lie down on the Sensory Mat to hear the Invocation, create the container, and open the practice. You’re welcomed and encouraged to emote in whatever way feels authentic to you – now and throughout the entire class. This is about unkinking and uncorking ourselves; opening up and emptying out; removing facades and any pressure to perform. We release pent-up energy so we can be healthier and freer both emotionally and physically.

    2) Slow Down - the first segment of movement in which we warm-up by getting slow and low to the ground. We touch our own skin, slink, slide, and stretch on the faux rabbit fur Sensory Mat to turn inwards and turn on. We deepen our breath, get present, welcome whatever is alive in us, and gradually open our bodies to faster movement, clearing out any “issues in our tissues”. (2-3 songs in duration).

    3) Open Up - the second segment of movement in which we remove the Sensory Mat and work directly on its base, the 6-foot round yoga mat, AKA Foundation Mat. Here, we begin to weave in traditional fitness and dance movements as the pace gradually increases and we make our way to standing exercises. We move in feminine, intuitive, and sequential flows that incorporate yoga- and Pilates-inspired elements like down dog, wild thing, twisted lunges, side plank variations, and scissor kicks. (2-3 songs in duration).

    4) Empty Out - the third and final segment of movement in which we move freely – either free-styling on our own or pulling from previous movements learned in class. We let our bodies and the music take over and let everything else go so we truly can empty out.

    5) Integration and Journaling - kind of like a Savasana in yoga, but in this case, staying still on your back is just one option. This is your time to integrate your experience. You’ll have a full 10 minutes to stretch, journal, roll around on your massage balls, breathe, meditate, or have a good cry. Do any of the above or just rest. Ask yourself what you need and know that permission is granted to do exactly that.

    A full Signature, Yoga, or Choreo class is 75 minutes. In Slow & Wild Virtual, we’ll have “Quickie” versions of these classes as well (ranging from 15-45 minutes) which often start with a standing warm-up and leave out the low flow on the Sensory Mat. Quickies can also sometimes include just one or two targeted activities. Anything from pure emoting… to a happy dance… to a free-style flow… to a bootie-toning, fire-and-rage-stirring “BURN” session… to a morning or evening meditation or journaling ritual.

    No matter the class length, do your best to practice 2-6 times per week, carve out the time needed just for you, and try to ensure you will be distraction- and interruption-free.

  • Once we officially open in late April, 2024, you’ll be able to come take In-Studio Classes and purchase Class Packages. Later this Summer, we’ll launch Slow & Wild Virtual. It costs $69 a month to join and an at-home Sensory & Foundation Mat Set ($300) is required. Learn more about what Virtual Membership includes HERE.

  • Three months! And be sure to use them all because the are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

    Go here to explore memberships.

  • There are no contracts. Auto-replenishing memberships can be canceled at anytime by messing us in the Momence App where you book your classes. These Memberships auto-refill when you book your last class in the pack or at the 2-month mark, whichever happens first.

  • If:

    A) you identify as a woman;

    B) you’re able bodied enough to dance in your underwear at home and your doctor would clear you for a yoga class;

    C) you thrive on growth, connection, and showing up as the REAL you – no facades – and;

    D) you’re ready and willing to love on every inch of that gorgeous meat suit you have the privilege of inhabiting…

    Then hell yes. Bring it, woman! We break everything down and believe in a lot of repetition. Flexibility, strength, and stamina will come over time. Gotta start somewhere.

    We can’t wait to meet you and get all Slow & Wild with you!

  • 100% yes. So long as your doctor would clear you to workout at the gym or take a yoga or dance class, you’ll rock this practice.

    Our founder, Kris, is a middle-aged mom of 2 who loves to dance and has taught yoga, dance, and fitness for most of her life. Her pet peeve is teachers who advertise an all-levels class but then neglect to adequately break things down and make them safe and clear enough for beginners.

    You won’t find any complicated choreography here. We design our classes to be truly beginner-friendly, fun, and sexy, so you don’t have to be in your head. You can fully inhabit your body, access your turn-on, and release pent-up physical and emotional energy that has kept you from feeling totally yourself and fully alive.

    It’s okay if you’re not yet strong or flexible and you don’t yet move or feel like a dancer. You’ll get there. Enjoy the process and be gentle and playful along the way. That’s where the real gold is.

  • Absolutely. Any able-bodied person 18 or older who identifies as a woman is welcome to participate. It’s our honor and privilege to have you.

  • I (Kris) am not yet certified in pole. I fell in love with the apparatus and form of dance over 3 years ago (and am officially OBSESSED with it), but for now, my one pole in the studio is only for personal use. It brings me a ton of joy and satisfaction.

    The pole and burlesque communities have taught me so much about body positivity. You know, you HAVE to be scantily clad in order for your skin to stick to the pole, otherwise you’ll fall right off of it. I’ve loved getting used to showing skin. I’ve also loved cheering on so many women in pole and burlesque classes as they own and embody their desire, express their erotic, and show their darker feminine side. Learning and performing on the pole has made me more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I love all my wrinkles, rolls, folds, stretch marks, cellulite, and sags more than ever before.

    While I may or may not ever get certified to teach pole – or move to a bigger space that would allow me to offer pole classes to the community – or bring on other pole teachers to offer private lessions… I’ll be damned if I don’t at least pass on and pay forward the positive gifts I’ve gained from pole, burlesque, and all the body-positive performers and teachers I’ve been blessed to dance alongside.

  • Just like you couldn’t take a pole fitness class without a pole, this wouldn’t be a Slow & Wild class without its unique elements.

    1) The mirror is key for watching (and learning to love seeing) yourself move, emote, turn on, open up, and empty out.

    2) The Sensory Mat is vital to your sensory experience. Without it, you won’t be able to luxuriate. Your knees and joints won’t have the same cushioning. You won’t slide, slink, and glide as easily or feel as safe, held, comforted, and nourished.

    3) The grippy bottom layer (AKA the Foundation Mat, a 6-foot round yoga mat that we use beneath the Sensory Mat as well as on its own for a portion of class) ensures you can move in 360 degrees without repositioning or coming off your mat. You’ll have the space to roll, twist, and flow through all the sequences with ease.

    4) Grippy socks keep your Sensory Mat clean and help you grip the floor in bridge pose.

    5) Having your own Spotify account is also necessary so we can use the best music versus resorting to royalty-free “stock music” that just wouldn’t light our fires in the same way. See our other FAQ re: Spotify for more detail.

    6) A journal and pen are required for every Signature or Yoga class. You’ll be given a prompt or two and some time to write about your experience including newly revealed desires, discoveries, realizations, challenges, breakthroughs, and inspirations. We suggest keeping this journal private so you can share ALL of your thoughts and feelings without judgment and cultivate a ritual of getting deeply honest, compassionate, and present with yourself.

    7) Optional Gear: The other gear we suggest that isn’t mandatory but still recommended is explained in the “What equipment and attire do I need for this practice?” FAQ. It includes things like massage balls, an essential oil face mister, a water bottle, grippy socks, and a sweat towel.

  • In the world of online video making, there are very strict rules about using licensed music. Of course, all artists need to be properly compensated when their music is used in any video. We’re in full agreement with that.

    The problem is that there are no easy ways to do this. Compliance is simple with in-studio/in-person classes as there are licensing subscriptions that studios can pay for, but no such subscriptions exist for recorded videos. Wed’d have to license each song and negotiate with each artist’s legal team individually. There aren’t enough hours in a day!

    Until a solution for this becomes available, our workaround is to have you use your own Spotify account (which costs roughly $10/month) so you can hit play on our shared playlists when we cue you to, and we’ll move in sync to the same music that way. Artists are still getting compensated through Spotify and we can keep doing what we do best: creating this community and these practices for you!

    We do recommend you wear a good set of ear-wrap-style headphones so you can play your music as loud as you want and avoid having them fly off your head during hair flips and other sexy vixen moves.

  • Memberships & Class Packs are nonrefundable and nontransferable. They may not be shared, extended, or upgraded. You may simply cancel your subscription or auto-replenishing Class Pack if you decide you need a break or do not want to continue.

  • Use the contact page to reach out to us directly. We’d love to hear from you.
